Polka Dots

Another favorite fall trend for me is polka dots. Here are a few ways to bring them into your wardrobe:

Polka Dots

Add polka dots using a scarf here. Look at details here.

Add a red polka dot top with a camel skirt. Check out more views here.

Wear grey with light pink and add a bow ribbon. Want to see more? Click here.

Black and white and red polka dots all over. I wore this to a very important business meeting. Check out the article here.

Grey skirt with Tiffany Blue Clutch. Would you like to see more? Click here for additional pictures.

Finally, what would be a good blog article without nail tutorials. Want to polka dot your nails? click here for a tutorial.

Add yellow polka dots to your office wear by incorporating booties, a classic bag from Coach and a black blazer. Check more ideas out here, here, and here.

A perfect compliment to a grey polka dot dress is a pink sweater and pink clutch. Check out more views here.

DIY Polka Dot Eyeglass Case (15 Minutes)

I am so excited about how this project turned out. Not to mention, how incredibly easy it was to make! I spent a total of $0.50 on the felt fabric and I had the white thread on hand. I am one of those blond eye lash girls who cannot drive, walk or even step foot out into the bright sun without a pair of sunglasses. It seems as if from time to time, I leave my glasses in the bottom of my purse only to find them scratched by the random, loose objects like coins or keys. Well, look no further! I have created a simple, easy project for the most beginners in sewing.

I was out shopping at Hobby Lobby this weekend and in the craft isle I found a cute pink polka dot piece of felt. The felt was 2 pieces for a dollar, so I picked two pieces up. If you are using a fabric that has two tones, you will want to select thread that matches the lighter of the two colors. Here my fabric was pink and white, so I decided to stick with white thread. Plus, I had it on hand. This project takes 2 seams and very minimal supplies. It could be easily produced by hand if you do not have a sewing machine.

Materials Needed:
  • 1 piece of felt (50 cents)
  • matching thread (I had some on hand, but it would cost $2.75 from Hobby Lobby brand new)
  • scissors
  • needle/sewing machine

Fold the fabric in half and trim to the size of your sunglasses.
Fold the fabric in half and sew along the bottom about a 1/4 inch from the edge. Leave one end open.

Clip the bottom of the eyeglass case corner.

Fold the top down about an inch and sew a 1/4 inch seam.
Flip it inside out and ta - da! You have a brand new eyeglass case.

DIY Polka Dot Nails

Currently, I am obsessed with polka dots. So, tonight I decided to brave it and make something happen with my digits. I painted the base a shade of grey (Essie: Eiffel For You) and the dots were made out of beige (Maybelline: Sheer Satin Slip). I am loving the results!
1. Paint two coats of your base color
2. Using the tip of the brush, paint dots while slowly rotating your nail back and forth
And voila! You have cute, sophisticated nails.
